Dining table with metal legs: Oak meets bent steel

With a dining table with metal legs, the frame determines the whole impression. On the Hoogland with black legs and the Hoogland with white legs, it is bent from solid steel. This is elaborate to produce and cannot easily be copied. The contrast between warm wood and slim steel makes the table look light, and because the legs sit on the outside, there is plenty of legroom under the top.

Designed in-house, built in the South

The Hoogland was created by our own design team, led by founder Jan-Willem. The idea: plenty of legroom, a clear contrast between wood and metal, and a frame with a recognizable look. Together with the metalworking shop and the joinery, we worked out exactly how the steel can be bent and how the legs sit on the top. We visit both regularly, and we come away from almost every visit with a new idea.

Black or white, interchangeable at any time

Black legs create a clear contrast with the oak, especially with light shades such as Natural or Oat. Combined with the Espresso shade, the result is a completely dark table of the kind many architects like; find out more under Black dining table. And if your taste changes: all our frames sit in the same mounting under the top, so you can later switch to wooden legs.

Frequently asked questions

Does a table with metal legs wobble?

Not with the Hoogland. The legs are bent from solid steel and angled outwards, so the table stands steady even at a length of 300 cm. That was one of the most important goals in the design.

What colors are available for the metal legs?

Black or white. You can combine both with all six shades of the range: Milk, Oat, Natur, Honey, Cinnamon, and Espresso.

Where are the panel and the frame manufactured?

The solid European oak tabletop is crafted in a family-run carpentry workshop in the Black Forest, now in its third generation. The steel frame comes from a metalworking shop in Bavaria that has been in operation since 1890. We visit both businesses regularly.

What sizes are available?

The Hoogland is available in lengths from 140 to 300 cm with a width of 90 or 100 cm and a height of 75 cm. We can manufacture other dimensions upon request.

Can I switch to wooden legs later?

Yes. Hoogland, Hielke, and Hellen use the same mounting underneath the tabletop. This means you can swap the steel legs for an oak frame and keep the tabletop. Simply contact us to arrange this.
