Why solid wood from the Black Forest

In everyday life, a table takes more wear and tear than almost any other piece of furniture. That is why we rely on premium-grade solid oak, free of knots and cracks, with a residual moisture content of about eight percent to ensure the wood remains stable in heated rooms. Each table is handcrafted in a carpentry workshop in the Black Forest, where the craft has been passed down through three generations. The rounded Swiss edge provides a soft tactile feel and makes even a thick tabletop appear light. We explain how high-quality solid wood differs from coated alternatives in the article how to recognize a high-quality piece of furniture.

Coordinated rather than thrown together

The advantage of getting everything from a single source: your dining table, the coffee table by the sofa, and the matching chairs all speak the same design language. The same oak, the same wood stains, the same craftsmanship. You don't have to order from three different shops and hope the tones match. If you wish, we can plan how to combine your table, chairs, and bench harmoniously together during a free interior design consultation, in Munich, Hamburg, or via video call. Immerse yourself in our One House furniture world now and have your new favorite table delivered to your home.

Frequently asked questions

Which tables are available at One House?

At One House, you will find dining tables made of solid oak with wooden or metal legs in various colors, as well as side and coffee tables made of wood or with marble tops, and perfectly coordinated dining sets consisting of tables and chairs. All items are handcrafted in Germany.

What material are your tables made of?

Our tables are made of solid oak, graded to be knot-free and crack-free. No veneer, no chipboard, just continuous solid wood. The legs are available in either solid oak or powder-coated steel.

What is the difference between wooden and metal legs?

Solid oak legs give the table a warm, consistent wooden look and suit a classic, natural interior. A steel frame appears more graphic and lighter, creating a deliberate contrast to the wooden tabletop. Both are equally stable; it is purely a question of style.

Are the tables suitable for everyday use and children?

Yes. The surface is treated to be easy to care for, so that stains do not soak in immediately and the wood does not fade quickly. A damp cloth is sufficient for daily cleaning.

Doesn't solid wood warp over time?

We work with a residual moisture content of around eight percent, tailored for heated interior spaces. This keeps the wood stable. Although solid wood reacts slightly to the indoor climate, it will not crack or warp if properly maintained.

Can I choose the size, shape, and color?

Many models are available in different sizes, shapes, and stain colors, from light natural to espresso. Each table is made to order. For special requests, please feel free to contact us or book a free interior design consultation.

How long does delivery take?

Generally 8 to 10 weeks, as every table is handcrafted after you place your order. This ensures it is not mass-produced, but a table that fits you perfectly.
