Wool rugs

A good wool rug doesn't just make a room warmer, it makes it calmer. Our wool rugs are handmade in a family-run weaving mill in southern Germany, from pure sheep's wool, on a traditional loom. Every piece is one of a kind: blending different wool colors creates a lively, natural color palette that no machine-made rug can match. ... Read more What makes them special is the way they're made. Our rugs are fulled, a traditional southern German method in which the woven wool is gently felted with heat and contracts firmly. This makes the rug noticeably more durable: it sheds hardly any fibers and keeps its shape even with daily use. Many inexpensive rugs skip this step and rely on volume instead, which quickly gets trampled flat and sheds in the process. Our wool rugs, by contrast, are tightly and densely woven and identical on both sides, so you can simply flip them over. Sheep's wool also helps balance the humidity in your room by absorbing and releasing moisture, and naturally repels dirt. No moth-proofing chemicals, so they're safe for children and pets.

Wool carpets from southern Germany

The art of carpet weaving has been passed down for generations at our partner weaving mill. Each rug is handcrafted on a traditional loom, entirely in Germany. We use 100 percent robust sheep's wool, a naturally renewable raw material. Woven loops give the rug its soft, pleasant feel, while the characteristic honeycomb structure makes it both durable and easy to care for. This way, you don't receive a mass-produced item, but a unique piece made just for you.

Why boiled wool lasts longer

The most important difference compared to a budget rug lies in the fulling process. During this, the woven wool is treated with heat so that it lightly felts and binds firmly together. As a result, a fulled rug is significantly more durable and loses hardly any fibers. Because our rugs are also woven tightly and densely, they do not flatten as quickly as voluminous rugs, which may seem fluffy at first but quickly give way under pressure. And since both sides are crafted identically, you can simply flip your rug to further extend its lifespan.

Good for the room and the indoor climate

Thanks to their hollow fiber structure, sheep's wool can absorb and release moisture and heat. This ensures a pleasant, balanced indoor climate and makes our wool rugs perfectly suitable for underfloor heating. High elasticity allows pressure marks from furniture to disappear after a short time. Our rugs are deliberately not treated with moth-repellent toxins, making them safe for children and pets.
