Small sofa for small rooms: the perfect fit

A small sofa must be able to do two things: fit into the room and get into the room. Our compact sofas are deliberately slim-cut – narrow enough for tight floor plans, deep enough for relaxing. The practical advantage, especially for small rooms: we deliver every sofa in individual modules, and the feet are only assembled on-site. This means your new sofa can even pass through narrow doors, tight corridors, and stairwells where bulky furniture would fail. You can read why a compact couch is often the smarter choice in everyday life here: Advantages of space-saving sofas.

Configure your own little space miracle

In the 3D configurator, you can put together your small sofa in just a few minutes and see straight away how compact, and still beautiful, it looks in your room. A practical tip: light fabrics make a sofa look lighter and a small room appear larger. Our bestseller Savant Whisper is exactly such a light shade. The catch with light covers is usually the care, but our fabrics are partly recycled, hard-wearing and washable, so they are suitable for everyday use even in light colors. You can read how we test abrasion and lightfastness in the article Martindale, pilling and lightfastness. The current color trends show you which colors open up small rooms, and you can order fabric samples to your home in advance.

Where quality meets design

Small doesn't mean simple for us. The Bolder single sofa looks slimmer thanks to its rounded shapes and stands on higher legs that make it airy and light, ideal for small rooms. If you prefer a calmer, low-slung look, combine the compact modules of the Meester sofa. Both series consist of small, easy-to-combine elements that can later be extended with further modules if your life changes or you move. To make this seamless, our fabrics are woven in France so that every roll stays the same color, even after five years. So you can get the same cover later and add to your sofa instead of replacing it. You can read more about how we think in our guiding principles.

Frequently asked questions

How big should a sofa for small rooms be?

Allow about 60-80 cm of space for walking around. Our small sofas start at approx. 150 cm in length, with depths of 130, 150, 170 or 200 cm. Measure your room and put together your model in the configurator– there you can see the exact dimensions immediately.

Will a small sofa fit through narrow doors and into the stairwell?

Yes. We deliver in individual modules, and the feet are only assembled on site at your location. This means that even larger models can pass through narrow doors, tight corridors, and stairwells – a real advantage in old buildings and small apartments.

What kind of fabric is suitable for a small sofa?

Bright tones like our bestseller Savant Whisper make a sofa appear visually lighter and the room look larger. The catch with light covers is usually maintenance - our fabrics are partly recycled, washable and durable, meaning they are suitable for everyday use even in light colors. Order fabric samplesto your home and check the color and feel in your own light.

How do I clean and care for a small sofa with light-colored upholstery?

Light stains can be easily wiped away from our fabrics; the fibers are durable and colorfast, even in direct light. We explain in detail how we test for abrasion, pilling, and lightfastness in our blog.

Can I extend my small sofa later?

Yes - and color-matching. Because we weave our fabrics in such a way that each roll retains the same color (even after five years), you can later reorder individual modulesand enlarge your sofa instead of buying a new one.

Boulder or Meester – what's better for a small space?

The Bolder sofa looks sleeker due to its round shapes and stands on higher legs, which keep the room airy. The Meester sofa is closer to the ground and more subdued. Both consist of small, combinable modules – which variant suits depends on taste and floor plan.

Does a small sofa sit as well as a large one, and is it firm or soft?

Just as well. Our compact models have the same construction as the large ones, with a high-quality spring core and a sturdy frame. They sit on the firmer side, and they stay that way: a sofa that is too soft gives way over the years and develops seat hollows, which is quickly noticeable on a small surface. You can find out more about the seating feel on Meester and Bolder.

Can I try out a small sofa before buying it?

Sure. Try it out in our showrooms in Munichor Hamburg. Can't make it? Then order fabric samplesfor your home or book a personal interior design consultation.

Which small sofa suits my apartment?

That depends on the floor plan, use, and style. The article which sofa suits your living situationprovides guidance. Things get specific in the configuratoror during an interior design consultation.
