Modular Sofa

A modular sofa consists of individual elements – seat modules, corners, chaises longues, ottomans, stools – that you can freely combine and rearrange at any time. One House offers two systems: the rectilinear Meester and the rounder Bolder. Both are manufactured in Germany and can be expanded later with individual modules.

The Meester sofa is linear and close to the ground, while the Bolder, with its round shapes and higher feet, appears airier. Both are fully modular. To find out which one suits your space best, you can either try it out in the configuratoror read about it in the article which sofa suits your living situation.

In the 3D configurator, you choose modules, size, arrangement and fabric, and you see your sofa instantly. Are you unsure? Book an interior design consultationor visit our showrooms in Munichor Hamburg.

Yes – that's the core of the idea. Each module is compatible with the system via the sofa connector on the underside. You order individual modulesand turn a 3-seater into a corner or U-shape without replacing the entire sofa. And because each fabric roll remains color-matched, the new cover will fit even after years.

For small rooms, 2–3 modules (e.g., a 2-seater + chaise longue) are often sufficient; for medium-sized rooms, 3–4; and for large or open spaces, 5+ in an L-shape or U-shape. First, plan for pathways and light sources – and since you can expand later, you don't need to buy the maximum right away. The configuratorhelps with combining.

On the firmer side, and that's intentional. The base contains a solid beech frame, and the upholstery a high-quality spring core. This means you sit with good support, even on long evenings. Sofas that are too soft get softer and softer over the years and develop seat hollows; ours keep their shape. They are made by the same furniture makers who have been building upholstered furniture for over 125 years, now in the fourth generation, with a 5-year guarantee on the base.

Our fabrics are virtually pill-free, lightfast, and washable, as well as GREENGUARD Gold and PFAS-free. Light stains can simply be wiped away. For details on durability, see the article Martindale, Pilling and Lightfastness; you can order samples here.

Usually 8–10 weeks, as each sofa is made to order. In case of unforeseen delays, we will inform you individually. Delivery is handled by our logistics partner on fixed routes; you will receive a proposed delivery date in advance.

Yes. Instead of replacing the whole sofa, you swap or add individual modules. This is cheaper in the long run, and your sofa adapts to every new living situation. Combined with a solid base and durable fabrics, your sofa stays comfortable and up to date for many years.
